Temi Otedola announces ambassador deal with WARIF, appeals for the support of Nigerians.
Nigerian Fashion Blogger, daughter of Billionaire Oil Mogul, Femi Otedola, Temioluwa Fumilayo Otedola recently announced her new role as an ambassador of Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF).
WARIF is an organization raising awareness to the prevalence of rape, gender violence, human trafficking amongst young girls and women in Nigeria.
“We continue the work! I’m so honoured to announce my role as the ambassador of warif_ng,” she said on Twitter on Wednesday.
“I have been so inspired by the work that they do to fight against the HUGE issue of rape in Nigeria. I continue to make it my mission to condemn gender-based violence in our country.”
The Fashion Blogger was rewarded because she had been an active supporter in the fight against gender-based violence.
In early June, she appealed to Nigerians to donate continuously to charity organizations dedicated to fighting sexual assault.
Addressing rape as “an epidemic”, the Temi said she would not stop talking about it although the hashtags to end rape have stopped trending.
“I refuse to stop talking about this issue because the hashtags have stopped trending. Sexual violence against girls and children in Nigeria is a CRUCIAL ISSUE, one week of hashtags is not going to cut it.
“We now know the stories of Uwa, Barakat, Farishina…. but what about the nameless and countless others… !!!! we can’t stop,” she wrote.
Intimating Nigerians on how she had been working closely with organizations currently fighting these issues, she said a lot of work still need to be done.
She urged Nigerians to continuously fight the crime, educate themselves on rape culture while they show support to charities with their donations.
“We need to continue to shout that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, continue to donate to these charities. Educate ourselves and those around us about what rape culture means.”
