Pres. Buhari Finally Speaks on Locally Produced Drugs for Covid-19

The President of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari has stated his stand regarding the herbal or traditional medicines for Covid-19.

The President wrote via his verified Twitter handle on Saturday, May 16th, 2020.

Following the order the President gave the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 to import Madagascar Syrup, many Nigerians had advised the president to encourage local production of Covid-19 drugs.

Buhari, thus, spoke on the matter, ‘My position regarding all herbal or traditional medicines is that any such formulations should be sent to the statutory regulators for thorough scientific verification.

‘We will not put anything to use in Nigeria without the endorsement of our regulatory institutions.’ Also Read: How Four-month Infant Contracted Covid-19
